ABOUT AGGIE SOCCER FIELD

Built with primarily volunteer time and materials, and serving as the home to the UC Davis men’s and women’s soccer teams since 1985, Aggie Soccer Field is a product of the community’s dedication to the sport of soccer.

The stadium bleachers are the result of a 10-year project that reached completion in 1997. Former head men's coach Will Lotter and soccer alum Alan Moll spearheaded the massive volunteer effort.

The field was resurfaced -- and a new scoreboard installed -- prior to the 2018 men's and women's seasons, the first such overhaul since the summer of 2005, when a Bermuda hybrid turf and a new irrigation system was installed. Mark Lucas, who had previously worked at Cal, returned to UC Davis to supervise this project.

Prior to that, new restrooms and concessions were added to the baseball/soccer complex during the 2001-02 year. In 1994, Aggie Soccer Field was among those facilities invited to submit a bid to become a training facilities for the World Cup.

Ahead of the 2025 season, in a joint project with the neighboring Dobbins Baseball Stadium, both teams, for the first time in their history, now had the opportunity to host games at night under the lights.

The men's soccer team debuted the lights in a trio of games during their 2025 spring season, playing in night games against Saint Mary's, Chico State, and Stanford.

The women's soccer team opened their doors for their first night game against San Jose State on Aug. 14, 2025.
