ABOUT DOBBINS STADIUM

A 3,500-seat facility, Phil Swimley Field at James M. & Ann Dobbins Baseball Stadium is the home for baseball at many levels in the Davis community. In addition to being the home of the Aggies since 1986, the stadium hosted Babe Ruth Baseball and various adult leagues throughout the spring, summer and fall.

In a massive effort spearheaded by then head baseball coach Swimley, Dobbins Stadium was built almost completely with volunteer time, materials and funds. Previously known as Community Stadium, the Dobbins ballpark hosted its first UC Davis home game on February 18, 1986. However, the facility was still incomplete at that time. The volunteer efforts continued through that decade to transform the stadium into a full-service collegiate facility. In 2002, Dobbins Stadium was further enhanced to include permanent concessions, restroom facilities and a press box.

The result of this community effort was a stadium whose playing surface is one of the best in Northern California. Its drainage system has the Aggies playing when many other teams in the area are postponed due to wet grounds.

On April 15, 2017, the playing field was dedicated to Swimley, with the beloved coach's name adoring the top of the scoreboard.

Ahead of the 2025 season, a joint project with the neighboring Aggie Soccer Field allowed the stadium, for the first time ever, to host games under the lights.

The team debuted under the lights for the first time in a Friday night matchup against Gonzaga University on February 14, 2025

The Dobbins stadium dimensions are 310 feet down each line, 385 in the alleys and 410 to straight-away center.
