A total of 27 winter and spring student-athletes make conference's honor roll

DAVIS, Calif. -
A total of 27 UC Davis student-athletes from eight different winter and spring teams garnered Big West Academic All-Conference honors, it was announced by the league office. Specifically, the Aggie contingent comprised two from women's basketball, four from baseball, two from men's tennis, three from women's tennis, two from women's golf, one from men's track & field, nine from women's track & field, and four from women's water polo.
To be eligible for Big West All-Academic honors, student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the year for which the award is bestowed, and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests for that year.
Women's basketball and women's golf each claimed two recipients. Junior Idit Oryon and sophomore Emily Vann represented the hardcourt. Seniors Demi Runas and Amy Simanton hailed from women's golf, which also won the university's Marya Welch Award for women's team GPA this year.
In all, the Big West Conference issued 410 All-Academic awards during the 2012-13 year.
