DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis Athletics, in partnership with KSAC (105.5 FM) in Sacramento, will debut "Aggie Sports Update" this coming Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., featuring interviews with coaches and student-athletes, updates on all 23 varsity teams, and opportunities to win tickets and prizes.
The 30-minute show, which will air each Tuesday except for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 through basketball season, will be co-hosted by longtime Aggie broadcaster Scott Marsh and KSAC Sports Director Phil Getman.
Besides airing on KSAC, "Aggie Sports Update" will stream live on UC Davis' official athletics website, www.ucdavisaggies.com. Archived shows will be available on-demand through the website as well.
"We're always looking to new opportunities to connect with UC Davis fans and 'Aggie Sports Update' allows us another way to reach them through the radio and internet," said Cindy Spiro, senior associate athletics director for external affairs and resource development. "Our athletics program has a lot to showcase and we're excited to partner with KSAC in doing so."
KSAC is in its second season airing all UC Davis men's basketball games. Marsh serves as play-by-play announcer for the games and is joined by analyst Bill Herenda.
"I'm looking forward to co-hosting the new show 'Aggie Sports Update' with Scott Marsh and taking the next positive step into a long-term relationship between UC Davis Athletics and 'Aggies' 105.5 KSAC," Getman said. "I could not be more pleased with the staff at UC Davis and its willingness to jump in and support this media partnership."
The inaugural program next Tuesday will feature interviews with men's basketball coach Jim Les and women's basketball coach Jennifer Gross as both continue to ready their teams for the upcoming Big West Conference season.
Throughout the season, "Aggie Sports Update" will introduce fans to outstanding student-athletes while also providing trivia contests to win prizes and tickets to athletics events.
