Aggies debut at No. 17 in United Soccer Coaches poll

UC Davis among the top 25 for the first time since 2008 season

DAVIS, Calif. — An unbeaten start to the 2018 campaign as the UC Davis men's soccer team in the polls for the first time in nearly a decade, entering the week ranked as the No. 17 team in the nation according to the latest United Soccer Coaches poll released on Sept. 3.

The national ranking is the first for the Aggies in nearly a decade dating back to Dec. 16, 2008, when UC Davis wrapped up its second season at the Division I level ranked No. 19 in the nation with a 13-5-4 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Since then, the Aggies have received votes three times in 2009, 2012, and most recently, in 2014.

In addition, UC Davis is the organization's top-ranked team in the Far West region, jumping five spots from No. 6 in last week's poll after starting the year 3-0-1 in its first four contests.

The United Soccer Coaches poll isn't the only organization recognizing the Aggies' strong start out of the gate, as College Soccer News has UC Davis among those receiving votes.

Fresh off a, 3-1, victory at CSU Bakersfield on Sunday (Sept. 2), UC Davis continues a three-match road swing in the Pacific Northwest this weekend, traveling to Spokane, Wash., to face Gonzaga on Friday (Sept. 7) at 3 p.m., before locking horns with Oregon State on Monday (Sept. 10) in Corvallis, Ore., at 7 p.m.
