Aggies Fall 10-4 to Texans in Consolation Round

FORT COLLINS – UC Davis (29-22) played its second game of the National Invitational Softball Championship as the Aggies took on Tarleton State University in the consolation bracket. The Texans defeated the Aggies, 10-4, Friday morning.
 
Junior Anna Dethlefson went 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Senior Delaney Diaz and junior Sarah Nakahara each went 1-for-2 with Nakahara adding an RBI. Junior Bella Pahulu's lone hit of the game went for a two-run home run.
 
In the circle, Kenedi Brown pitched six innings and struck out nine while allowing four runs on six hits. Taylor Fitzgerald allowed five hits and Mia Hildebrand allowed two hits in relief.
 
The Aggies would open the scoring in the top of the third inning on a Sarah Starks single through the left side that scored Dethlefson.
 
The Texans would tie the game in the top of the fourth inning on a solo home run to left center. The Texans would take the lead for good in the top of the sixth inning with three runs – two coming on a double to center field and one coming on a single to center field.
 
The Aggies would get a run back in the bottom of the sixth inning as Alyssa Ito scored on a Nakahara single to left field.
 
The Texans' offense would score six runs in the top of the seventh inning.
 
The Aggies would get two runs back in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Pahulu two run home run to right center that plated Dethlefson.
 
The Aggies finish their season with a 29-22 record – their first winning season since 2020 – and a 15-12 record in Big West Conference – their second winning season in the last three campaigns.
