Name: Abigail Alcala
Hometown: Fairfield, CA
This is Abby’s second year doing cheer. She previously participated in gymnastics, volleyball, cross-country, and track & field. She likes hiking, going to concerts, and eating homemade ice cream while driving with the windows down on Rockville Road. Abby is a photographer for The California Aggie and believes that a good photo is one that captures an honest moment. Her other talents include singing the alphabet backwards, writing with both hands at the same time, and small home improvement projects, with assistance from solid friends. Her favorite things about Davis are the beautiful corners of campus and meeting new, fascinating people.
Name: Jordan Gibson
Hometown: Ripon, CA
This is Jordan's second year cheering for Davis and his first year as cheer captain.
He started cheer his senior year of high school and has loved it ever since. Jordan's favorite part about cheer is mastering a hard skill that takes time to work on. He also really enjoys coed stunting. Jordan encourages anyone who has considered cheerleading to give it a try. It is a great workout and you meet tons of great people. Go Ags!
Name: Taylor Nakayama
Hometown: San Francisco
Taylor spent eight years as a high-level gymnast at San Mateo Gymnastics. When an injury forced her early retirement, she sought solace in her high school cheer team and absolutely fell in love with the sport. Taylor has been to the USASF Cheerleading Worlds twice with her Rebels Elite All-Star team, and cheered for UC Davis since her freshman year. She is currently pursuing a minor in Chinese, continuing her research at the Engebrecht genetics lab, and raising an adorable Havanese puppy!
Name: Megan Powers
Hometown: Fremont, CA
This is Megan’s 2nd year as captain, and 4th year on the UC Davis Cheer Team. Although she is sad to be retiring after 10 years of cheerleading, she will now have more free time to spend with her boyfriend Luke Bryan. (The rumors are true. Luke was inspired to write, “Shake It For Me,” after watching her tear it up at the Grad.) Megan firmly believes that if you ain’t first, you’re last. She is known for being the first woman to qualify for the finals of American Ninja Warrior, and her patronus is a piglet. She tries to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup. And she just likes to smile! Smiling’s her favorite. She is so grateful for the opportunity to be apart of such an amazing team of talented individuals.

Sarah did 2 years of competitive cheer, on freshman and Varsity cheer at Rio Americano High School. She enjoys family time and traveling with loved ones.
Name: Amanda Lewis
Major: Cell Biology
Hometown: Cypress, CA
Amanda was born and raised in Orange County, and she graduated from Los Alamitos High School. She’s been cheering competitively for 18 years and competed at the 2013 Cheer Worlds. She coached tumbling at Kidnastics gymnastics and coached cheer at Cypress High School as well as the all-star team HSC before transferring to UC Davis. She loves to play sports and eat/cook good food in her free time. This is her first year on the UCD cheer team and she is looking forward to getting involved in Aggie athletics and supporting her school.

Hometown: Guayaquil, Ecuador
Vicky is an international transfer student from Ecuador. She did gymnastics since She was 4 years old until she was 16, and she’s been a cheerleader since she was 8. She was a cheerleader for her Elementary School, Middle School and High School, where her team won several National titles. She was a cheerleader for her college back home too. She competed at the 2012 Cheerleading World Championships with a club from Ecuador called CheerZone, and made it to finals! her dream is to become a veterinarian. Her hobbies include watching movies, going to the beach, and playing with her dog. This is her second year on the UC Davis Cheer Team. To her, there is no better feeling than to be able to represent her school, and cheer for all the amazing athletes. Go Ags!

Kristan began cheerleading in high school and looks forward to continuing this in college. She feels very grateful to be at UC Davis and loves the community that is centered around the university. She looks forward to basketball games and spending more time with her team. Go UCD!

Arisdelsy has been a cheerleader for 9 years now. She started out as a pop warner cheerleader then was on the Vacaville High school cheerleading team as a captain. Aris absolutely loves being a flyer and stunting is her favorite. She also really enjoys painting her nails and working out

Jeff is a completely new and sensational addition to the U.C. Davis Cheer team. This rookie has been making headlines and gaining fans all over the PAC 12 and Big Sky Conference networks with his charismatic charm and quick, classic Hollywood wit. Under the supervision and coaching of captains: Jordan Gibson, Taylor “The Destroyer” Nakayama, Megan “Mepo” Powers, and cheer team coach, Lindsay, this young rookie is bound for superstardom. When not cheering on his fellow Aggies on the pitch or court, Jeff enjoys dabbling in the fine arts such as impressionist painting, classical music, and the performing arts. When it is season, he also enjoys yachting, golfing, snowboarding, and snacking on only the finest cheeses and wines. He also likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. With Jeff, this cheer team has never looked better.

Caroline was on the cheer team all four years in high school and decided to try out for the UC Davis team her second year. She enjoys stunting in the pyramids and cheering at basketball games. Her hobbies include watching Netflix, going to concerts, and hiking. She loves that Davis is a small college town and enjoys experiencing the differences in Southern California and Northern California. Caroline looks forward to bonding with the cheer team family and cheering on the Aggies this year.

Vanessa started cheering at the age of 13, and cheered all 4 year ate Maui High School. She loves spending time with her little brother and family, and friends. Her favorite thing about Davis is how welcoming everyone is. She is looking forward to eating new foods, and making lifelong friendships, and an amazing freshmen year.

Alexis began cheerleading her freshman year of high school. She was on the Varsity cheer team at her high school her sophomore, junior, and senior year. Her favorite part of cheerleading is stunting, no matter which position she is in. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching movies, shopping, eating, and traveling. Alexis’s favorite thing about Davis is all the friendly people and great food places downtown. She is really looking forward to a great season, getting to know all her teammates better, and cheering at all the great sporting events.

Olivia started cheerleading in 9th grade and continued to cheer for her high school (Faith Christian HS) all four years. She was named captain of her high school squad both in 11th and 12th grades and did a season of All Star Cheer during her senior year. Her hobbies include petting the Tercero cows, attending gymnastics club practices, listening to 5SOS on the way to class, and cheering at games as an Aggie Pack member. Olivia’s favorite thing about Davis is the welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
