Two Aggies advance to semifinals at UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
To highlight the second and final day of action at the 2018 New Mexico Classic, junior transfer Kieana Butler competed in the semifinals for the 60 meter dash, while sophomore Kierra Davis competed in the 60 meter hurdles’ semifinals.

Prior to Butler’s semifinal qualification, she captured an eighth-place finish in the 60 meter dash with a 7.68 time, while teammates Kierra Davis and Natsumi McGee finished behind in 14th and 16th with times of 7.75 and 7.79, respectively. In the semifinals, Butler finished in 17th place and half a second later the first-place winner.

In the preliminaries for the 60 meter hurdles, Kierra Davis placed in eighth with an 8.87 time, besting teammate Baileigh Akins, who placed in 17th. In the semifinals, Davis completed her race with a 8.89 time.

Aside from Butler and Davis, freshman Flora Oliveira and sophomore Mikaela Adolphus finished back-to-back in 19th and 20th for the 400 meter dash, respectively, while in the 800 meter run, sophomore Emily Antonino led the Aggie team of three with a 24th place finish. Senior Emma Redick finished close behind Antonino in 29th place, while junior transfer Kayla Gibson finished her race in the 32nd spot. Lastly in the running events results, sophomore Haley Adel ran a 5:19 mile to earn herself a 15th place finish.

To round out the rest of the results from UC Davis’s final day of the 2018 New Mexico Classic, junior Stasia Kubicki maxed at 3.62m in the pole vaulting event, while the new UC Davis indoor high jump recorder holder Erinn Beattie threw 9.41m for the shot put event.

The UC Davis indoor track and field squad returns to action next weekend as they make a trip back to Albuquerque, New Mex., to participate in the annual Don Kirby invitational.
