2007-08: Finished in the top three in each distance free event at the Big West Championships for the second consecutive season, tallying a team-best 49.0 points... Took runner-up honors in the 500 free (4:27.22) plus 3rd in both the 1,000 (9:16.47) and 1,650 free (15:32.98)... All three times rank 2nd in school history... Won 500 free in five meets, 1,000 in three during the season, including a sweep of both races in Cal State Bakersfield dual.
2006-07: Reached three finals at Big West Conference Championships, totalling 50.0 points... Finished 2nd to teammate Scott Weltz in both 500 free (4:27.91) and 1,000 free (9:17.94)... Both of those times rank 2nd in school history... Added a 3rd-place showing in 1,650 free (15:38.17), 3rd in UC Davis record book... Also had team's top finishes in both 500 and mile at USA Sectionals in March.
2005-06: Compiled 45.0 points at Big West Conference Championships, second on Aggies behind only Scott Weltz... Advanced to conference final in 1,000 free (2nd), 1,650 free (3rd) and 200 fly (7th)... Time of 9:23.38 in 1,000 ranks 2nd in school history, while mile mark of 15:43.68 is 3rd in Aggie annals... Also raced in 500 free and 100 fly at Big West meet... Later posted season-best times in 500 free (4:32.85) and 200 fly (1:51.87) at American Short Course Championships, which rank 6th and 5th, respectively, in school record book.
MARIA CARRILLO HS '05: Voted team MVP as a senior... Earned NISCA/Speedo Public School All-America honors in 500 free that year (4:35.42)... Won North Coast Section title in that event... Also captured North Bay League title in 200 free in 2005... Member of Santa Rosa Neptunes from 1997-2005... Named club's Most Inspirational in 1999, Most Improved in 2000, then won Coaches' Achievement Award in 2004.
PERSONAL: Born in Santa Rosa, Calif.... Film studies major, who lists Steven Spielberg as his non-sports hero... Parents are William Arbios and Deborah Hodesson, both of whom are UC Davis alumni... Aggie teammates give him nickname of "Chainsaw"... Proudest accomplishment was winning the 2005 CIF-NCS title in the 500 free... Sports heroes are Ian Thorpe and Natalie Coughlin.
