A two-time NCAA Division II National Diving Coach of the Year, Helder is in her ninth season at UC Davis.

In her distinguished career, Helder has coached four national champions to four separate titles, including UC Davis' Tara Montgomery in 1996. She was named PCSC Men's Diving Coach of the Year in 2000, then was selected as the conference's Women's Diving Coach of the Year one year later.

An accomplished diver in her own right, Helder set two national records in 2002 with her 1-meter and 3-meter victories at the U.S. Diving Masters Nationals held in Dallas, Texas. She has captured both titles in in each of the last three years. In March, Helder set a World/FINA record on 3-meters and captured the gold medal on the low board.

In addition to UC Davis, Helder has coached at Chico State and Clemson University. She was also the coach of the Venezuela Junior National team in 1991.

Helder, a former two-time NCAA champion at 3-meter, is a 1982 graduate of Chico State University. In 1999, she was inducted into that institution's athletic hall of fame.
