LOS ANGELES — UC Davis junior Inessa Toropov posted a top-30 finish in the preliminary round of the women’s platform on Sunday, closing out competition at the Bruin Diving Invitational hosted by UCLA at the Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles.
Toropov led the way for the Aggies with a score of 184.15—the highest by an Aggie diver this season— to finish 30th in the platform prelims. Toropov was closely followed by her teammate Angelina Proshak, who finished 32nd in the prelims with a score of 181.60.
Katie Truong finished 44th with a score of 157.95, followed by Amanda Chau in 45th (157.50), Jessica Fernandez in 46th (150.85), and Alisha Miller in 47th (150.10).
Hawai’i’s Madison Sthamann, who finished first in the prelims, claimed top honors as individual champion on the platform, scoring a total of 627.20 points on the day.
The Aggies return to action on Jan. 19 at Schaal Aquatics Center as they host a dual against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival UC Santa Barbara beginning at 2 p.m.
On Saturday (Jan. 20), the Aggies will host their last home meet of the season against San Jose State at 12 p.m. During the meet’s intermission, UC Davis will also be recognizing the careers of 11 graduating seniors: Allie Autrey, Angelina Proshak, Aislinn Dresel, Jordan Gueniot, Robin Lampron, Angelica Nowack, Jordan Owyoung, Courtney Schultz, Ali Sena, Elise Wright, and Ani Vemury.
