SEATTLE, Wash. --- Matt Casto won the 200 individual medley at 1:52.49 and placed third in in the 100 breaststroke with a 57.04 mark to highlight UC Davis action in a triple dual meet at a men's and women's swimming triple dual meet at the University of Washington Saturday.
The Aggie men lost to the host Huskies by a 97-24 margin, fell to British Columbia, 80-41, and beat Simon Fraser of British Columbia by a 75-46 score. The UC Davis women also went 1-2 in the meet, losing to UW, 97-24; and UBC, 80-41. The Aggie women beat Simon Fraser, 75-46.
Sophomore Yuka Kobayashi was the top finisher for the UC Davis women, placing third in the 100 backstroke at 58.95. Michelle Jennings shaved three full seconds off her previous season-best mark in the 1,000 free. Her time of 10:30.27 was good for third place in the event.
On the men's side, Patrick Jacobson took second place in the 100 freestyle with a 46.19 time, improving on his season-best mark by .60. He met the qualifying standard for the American Short Course Championships earlier in the year.
The foursome of Kyle Wooldridge, Jacobson, Casto and Kevin Williams placed second in the 200 medley relay with a season-best mark of 1:35.21. Eddie Fernandez and Michael Fahy each made their season debuts in the 200 fly, narrowly missing national-qualifying standards with respective times of 1:59.40 and 1:59.67.
Both the Aggie men and women remain in Washington for a dual at Seattle University Sunday.
