DAVIS, Calif. - Senior Kayleigh Foley posted a pair of event wins in the final home meet of the season for the UC Davis women's swimming and diving team but UC Santa Barbara hung on for a 159-141 dual meet win on Saturday at the Schaal Aquatics Center.
The Aggies had a five dual meet win streak snapped and dropped to 9-3 on the season with a 6-1 mark in MPSF play while the Gauchos improved to 5-3 overall in duals. The UC Santa Barbara men's swimming team also competed in unofficial events.
UC Santa Barbara opened the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay and went on to win four out of the first five events. The score was tied at 75 during the first break of the meet, following wins for Foley in the 200 yard free (1:49.87) and 50 yard free (23.65).
Megan Leung also managed two event wins, pacing UC Davis in the 200 yard fly (2:04.62) and 100 yard fly (56.63). Katie Edwards was the only other Aggie to collect an event win, recording a time of 52.49 in the 100 yard free.
For the divers, Katherine Gonsalves had a second-place time and was the top finisher for UC Davis in the 1-meter diving, finishing with a score of 219.23. Jennifer Meyer earned the top time in the 3-meter diving with a 229.05 score.
Allie Knight led the Gauchos with wins in the 100 yard back (57.33), 200 yard back (2:03.85) and 400 yard IM (4:27.28).
The Aggies celebrated senior day on Saturday, recognizing Buffy Ajimura, Alyssa Britt, Jenah Dawson, Kayleigh Foley, Katelyn Griffin, Jodi Hanson, Mia Herman and Alex Wells.
UC Davis has completed the dual meet portion of its schedule and will be back in action at the MPSF Championships Feb. 15-18.
