STOCKTON, Calif. — The UC Davis women’s swimming and diving team capped off dual competition for the 2017-18 season in style on Saturday, capturing 11 of 16 event wins and five sweeps, with senior Courtney Schultz (200 free, 100 free), junior Solie Laughlin (100 back, 200 back), and junior Eva Chung (200 fly, 100 IM), doubling on the day in their respective signature events, to highlight the Aggies’ 188-112 victory over the Tigers.

The Aggies improve to a 6-5 overall dual record and a 2-1 mark in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference. The Tigers will enter the league’s championship meet 0-3 overall and 0-2 in MPSF.

The Aggies’ first two wins came back-to-back as Schultz touched first overall in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.14, followed by Laughlin in the 100 back (57.26).

Five events later, UC Davis followed up a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 free with a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 200 back, with Laughlin touching first overall at 2:04.67, followed by Mia Cunnan (2:05.55), Iris Brand (2:08.28), and Vanessa Yeung (2:09.49).

Other event winners on the day included junior Kristin Schumann in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.50) with the fourth fastest time by an Aggie this season, in addition to sophomore Cora McClelland who touched first overall in the 100 fly (56.81).

The 400 free relay quartet of Schultz, Ali Sena, Cunnan, and Jamie Pincin (3:28.84) allowed UC Davis to close out competition at Chris Kjeldson Pool with a victory, posting the third fastest time by the Aggies this season.

Rounding out a strong day of competition for UC Davis, the Aggie divers finished in the top-eight spots against the Tigers in both events. In the one-meter program, freshman Katie Truong took home top honors with a score of 240.90 points, closely followed by senior Allie Autrey in second, whose 239.05 point-effort topped her previous career best as an Aggie by more than 30 points. The 3-meter program saw similar success by the Aggies with junior Inessa Toropov’s first-place score of 272.20 points surpassing her previous career best score at UC Davis by more than 28 points.

The Aggies will resume action on Feb. 14-17 in Southern California at the MPSF Championships. For the seventh consecutive season, the swimming events will be held at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, Calif., with action beginning at 10 a.m. each day, while the diving competitions will be held at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena, Calif., with action beginning on Thursday, Feb. 15.
