CLOVIS, Calif. - Cara Silvas recorded the fastest 1,650 Freestyle time to lead UC Davis in the final day of action at the Juanita Allington Memorial Senior meet at the Clovis North Aquatics Complex.

Hosted by the Clovis Swim Club, Silvas' victory was earned in one of six events that took place throughout the fourth day of competition.

Touching the wall at 16:56.17, Silvas trimmed almost 40 second off her previous best of 17:35.07 in the Aggies dual versus CSU Bakersfield last January.

Madeline Benavidez had a busy afternoon, competing in four of the day's six events - the 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM and 400 Medley Relay. Out of her three individual races, the freshman from San Ramon finished seventh in the 100 Breast to post her highest finish of the day. Benavidez also finished 34th in the 100 Fly (59.69) and 45th in a deep 200 IM (2:14.25) field.

Also competing in the 100 Fly and clocking the fastest time out of the four Aggie participants was sophomore Ali Paris. Placing 10th, Paris missed her season best by only .03 of a second.

The Solana Beach native did set a new season best in another event, the 200 IM, by finishing first in her heat with a time of 2:11.41, nearly three seconds faster than her original mark also earned against CSU Bakersfield.

Other Aggies who recorded new season bests in the 200 IM include Jessica Nicholson who posted a 2:12.89, more than five seconds faster than her previous best; Joann Liang (2:13.80) and Sarah Winters (2:16.24) also posted their lowest times of the season in this event.

Posting two of the top-three times in the 400 Medley Relay, UC Davis' 'A' team of Liang, Caroline Weston, Paris and Winters, captured second place (3:55.00) and finished seven seconds ahead of an Aggie quartet consisting of Sarah Luibel, Benavidez, Cora Stebbins and Nicholson that placed third (4:02.00).

In addition to competing in the 400 Medley Relay, Liang was the top UC Davis swimmer in the 100 Back, ending the race in 11th with a time of 59.06.
