MINNEAPOLIS -- UC Davis freshman Hlivy Cheung finished 37th during the preliminaries of the 200 fly while Alvarez finished 46th in the 200 breaststroke to close out the Aggies' performances during the final day of the 2014 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
After finishing 49th in the 100 fly on Friday, Cheung responded with her best finish of the weekend, touching in a time of 1:58.57 in the 200 fly on Saturday. Although her time was almost two-and-a-half seconds off her school record time of 1:56.14, it was good enough for her third-fastest time of the year in the event.
Texas A&M's Cammile Adams, who eventually won the event later in the day, posted the fastest time in the preliminaries, touching in 1:52.62.
Alvarez closed out her UC Davis career with her 46th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, touching in a time of 2:12.97 -- just three-tenths off her fastest time of the year and her second-quickest time of the season in the event.
Texas A&M's Breeja Larson, who eventually tied for second in the championship final, led the way during the preliminary round with a time of 2:05.03.
