DAVIS, Calif. - Sarabeth Schweitzer won two events for Nevada on Thursday afternoon, while diver Christine Lachmann captured wins on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, as the Wolf Pack beat UC Davis 161-132 in a women's swimming and diving dual at Hickey Pool.

UC Davis, which picked up event wins from Michelle Jennings, Abbey Cornell and Rachelle Compton, dropped its second match to a tough NCAA Division I opponent in the last week and is 0-2 overall. The Aggies lost to defending Big West Conference champion Pacific in their season-opener last Saturday.

Schweitzer, who also swam on the Wolf Pack's winning 200-yard medley relay team in the meet's first event, won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 56.19 seconds for her first individual win, edging teammate Amy Murphy who was second in 1:57.59. Schweitzer then came back and finished first in the 200 backstroke, clocking a time of 2:04.91 and winning the race by nine seconds over her closest competitor.

The Aggies countered with a trio of wins in the pool. Jennings led a 1-2 UC Davis finish in the 1,000 freestyle, winning in 10:33.62. The Aggies' Rachelle Compton was second in 10:46.08 while Christy Droubay was fourth. UC Davis also finished in the first two spots in the 200 butterfly as Cornell took first in 2:10.63, just ahead of teammate Debbie Seiler who was second in 2:11.48.

Compton and Jennings later came back to finish in the top two spots in the 500 freestyle, switching places in the order of finish they recorded in the 1,000 free.

Compton was clocked in 5:13.75 while Jennings touched in 5:18.63.

Just two short events after winning the butterfly, Cornell was second in the 200 backstroke to Schweitzer. Jennings was also second in the 200 individual medley, while Cornell was third in the 200 butterfly.

"We had some stellar swims by a couple of people who really stepped up for the team," said UC Davis coach Barbara Jahn. "Today we got to race 200-yard races which we haven't got to do yet, which is good for our middle distance swimmers."

Lachmann earned convincing wins on both diving boards for Nevada. Her 266.10 points led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Wolf Pack on the low board, a performance which also included a second from Christine Bulmer (226.50) and a third from Jessica Gale (210.54). Lachmann also won the 3-meter competition, recording 252.00 points to beat the Aggies' Cyndie Thompson, who was second with 219.98. Hannah Ures was fourth on the 1-meter board for UC Davis, while also taking fifth on the 3-meter.

"I'm very pleased not only with our attitude, but with the focus," said Aggies diving coach Karla Helder. "They all dove well."

Besides Schweitzer's and Lachmann's two wins, the Wolf Pack - which swam the final two events as exhibitions and did not score points - also earned victories from Leticia Cunha (100 breaststroke), Alyssa Chin (100 backstroke), Amy Imus (50 freestyle), Charlene Rigdon (100 freestyle), Beth Hejny (200 breaststroke) and Liz Klein (59.36).

UC Davis returns to action at the Pacific Invitational on Saturday.
