DE-FENSE! DE-FENSE!: The Aggies will go in search of their third MPSF title in four seasons this weekend, defending their crown after scoring 673.5 points to top BYU at the 2013 championships. UC Davis opened with school and meet records (7:14.45) in the 800 free relay win while Samantha Shellem (500 free, 4:45.60 - meet record), Katie Edwards (200 free, 1:47.11 - meet record), and Liliana Alvarez (100 breast, 1:01.25), took home individual titles in their respective events.

A QUICK LOOK BACK AT 2014: UC Davis completed the first perfect dual season in school history on Jan. 26 as seven different Aggies took home individual titles as part of a 178-116 win over Loyola Marymount at Schaal Aquatics Center, finishing an unblemished 9-0 on the season. Sic different UC Davis swimmers and divers met NCAA minimums for the championships in March while five different student-athletes set new school standards during the year.

THAT'S QUITE A STREAK YOU'VE GOT THERE: Thanks to their perfect 9-0 dual campaign in 2013-14, the Aggies have won 16 straight -- and 17 of the their last 18 -- dual meets dating back to a split against UCLA (L, 135-119) and Washington State (139-119) on Nov. 2, 2012, in Los Angeles.

AND PORTER MAKES THREE: Senior Haley Porter was named the MPSF/Turbo Female Athlete of the Week following the Aggies' final competition of the regular season on Jan. 29, winning both freestyle events and participating in a pair of relays to help UC Davis defeat UC Santa Barbara while winning 100 free and and swimming the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay against LMU two days later. Porter's award gives UC Davis three this season along with teammates Liliana Alvarez (Nov. 27) and Hilvy Cheung (Jan. 22).

HOW SWEEP IT IS: Nothing but blue and gold and the podium for the Aggies as of late, as UC Davis has swept the top three spots in an event 17 times in the new year: three times against Fresno State (100 back, 100 breast, 50 free), four more times at Pacific (100 breast, 200 fly, 100 fly, and 200 IM), four times at Bakersfield (500 free, 400 IM, 200 breast, and 3-meter), three times against UC Santa Barbara (200 free, 1-meter, and 500 free), and three times against LMU (100 back, 1-meter, 3-meter).

#WINNING: Nine Aggies have made winning a habit, combining for 24 individual event wins over the team's final seven dual meets this season. Senior Liliana Alvarez leads the way with five doubles, freshman Hilvy Cheung and sophomore Marissa Brown have accomplished the feat four times, while junior Hilary Hunt and senior Haley Porter have doubled-up three times. Also joining the group of double winners in 2013-14 are sophomore diver Audrey DeNeffe (twice), diver Lucy Lafranchise (at Bakersfield), junior Samantha Shellem (at San Jose State), senior Sabrina Cochrane (vs. Fresno State), diver Hanna Tears (at San Jose State), and senior Maya Sprinsock (vs. LMU).
