Pertusati came away with two first place titles in both the men's hammer throw and the men's shot put

MORSE HS’16/VISTA MURRIETA HS’17: Did track and field all four years of high school, while adding both football and basketball into the mix for his last three years… Competed in the 100m,400m, 800m, 1600m, long jump, triple jump, 4x100 relay, and 4x400 relay during high school career… Set his 400m during his junior year with a time of 51.45, while setting a 100m dash time of 10.9 during final high school season…. As a senior at Vista Murrieta HS, he set both his long jump and triple jump personal bests marks with leaps of 23’10” and 45’0”, respectively…. Was both football MVP and track and field MVP during his sophomore year, while being all-league in those two sports as a junior and senior… Helped his track and field team team place second at the CIF Championships during his junior season, and then third place at the State Meet his following year… Received all-academic team honors in 2015 and 2016, and made the honor roll all four years.

PERSONAL: Born in Bakersfield, Calif… Majoring in Economics… Parents are Latoya and Jason, both of which were collegiate student-athletes… Has a little sister Jayla (11)… Says his sports hero is Jesse Owens, while his non-sports hero is Barak Obama… The reason he chose UC Davis was because it seemed like an overall great fit both academically and athletically, and wanted to be somewhere where he could make an impact.
