2015: Earned All-Big West honors in the discus (4th) and hammer throw (7th) at conference championship... Went season-best 172-6 at BWC meet and career-best 181-2 in hammer at Sun Angel Classic.. Took second in discus at Brutus Hamilton Open and was third at Causeway Dual against Sacramento State.

Had a season-best mark of 174-0 at the Brutus Hamilton Open at Cal and captured Causeway Dual title at 170-4 for his top two throws of the year... Nine times he marked at over 160 feet.. Was seventh at the Big West Championships... Also competed seven times in the hammer throw, highlighting his season in that event by placing sixth at 180-9 at the Big West meet.

2013: Competed in both the discus and the hammer throw, scoring sixth-place points in the discus at the Big West Championships... Had a season-best mark of 176-1 at the USA Jr. Championships at Eugene, Ore., in June, putting him fourth all-time at UC Davis... Owned the Aggies' top 10 marks in the event... Went over 160-0 six times... Finished second in the discus at three meets, including the Causeway Dual and Aggie Open... Hd a season-best mark of 154-06 in the hammer throw at the Stanford Opener, finishing third.

SHAFTER HS '12:Was a three-time All-South Sequoia Leaguehonoree in boththe shot put and discus, including winning Outstanding Field Athlete honors in 2010... Earned second-time all-league recognition as a lineman for the football program and twice was selected honorable mention... Twice won titles at the Valley Masters Meet and was sixth at the CIF State Championships in 2012... CSF lifetime member... Valedictorian honoree.

PERSONAL:Born in Bakersfield, Calif.... Majoring in mechanical engineering... Parents are John and Deborah Bender... Had two uncles and an aunt compete in track and field at Fresno State... Advice for youth track throwers is simple: throw far, don't foul.
