2011: Enjoyed breakout year in pole vault, becoming third all-time Aggie to break 17-foot barrier... First hit that standard with 5.20m (17-0.75) at Aggie Open, earning Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors... Finished 2nd with season-best 5.21m (17-1) at Big West Conference Championships... Qualified for NCAA West Prelim, tying for 19th... Had four total meet wins, plus runner-up finish at conference.
2010: Won Aggie Open pole vault with 4.72m (15-5.75) effort in lone appearance.
2009: One of two Aggie pole vaulters (along with Jamie Feaster) to qualify for NCAA West Regional, placing t23rd (4.91m, 16-1.25)... Finished as Big West Conference runner-up at 5.05m (16-6.75), one of two meets in which he hit that mark... Also went 5.05m at Cal-Nevada state meet, moving him into tie for 5th on school's all-time list... Qualified for USATF Junior Nationals, placing 11th (4.85m, 15-11).
WEST VALLEY HS '08: Won North Section pole vault titles as a sophomore (13-6) and junior (14-8), then finished 2nd as a senior (15-2).... Three-time CIF state meet qualifier, including 4th-place showing (15-0) in 2008... Voted Most Improved in 2007 and Most Valuable in 2008... Advanced to CIF-NS long jump finals as a senior... Hit PR of 20-3.5 at Northern Athletic League meet... Also earned all-section honors in football as a senior receiver/defensive back... Four-year honor roll member.
PERSONAL: Born in Redding, Calif.... Exercise biology major, with hopes for career in physical therapy... Parents are Eric & Kristle Ostrom... Career highlight was finishing 4th in vault at CIF state meet as a senior.
