2012: Competed at Big West Conference Championships in 5,000, placing 20th (15:27.82)... First broke 15-minute barrier at Hornet Invite, posting season-best 14:44.56... Followed that with 14:52.79 at SFSU Distance Carnival... Made four appearances in 1,500, posting 3:56.21 in Aggie Open.

CROSS COUNTRY: USTFCCCA ALL-WEST REGION and ALL-BIG WEST CONFERENCE as a sophomore... Also earned Academic All-Big West in 2012... Placed 20th at regional, 6th at league championship... Team's No. 1 finisher in all five meets he raced in 2012, including meet champ at Aggie Open... Took 6th in 19-team field at Bronco Invitational... Competed in five meets as a freshman, including Big West (49th) and NCAA West Regional (118th).

DAVIS HS '12: Captured Sac-Joaquin Section individual cross country title as a senior, advancing to CIF state championship (22nd)... Followed up CIF-SFS runner-up and 12th-place state showing as a junior... Three-time All-Delta Valley Conference pick... Helped Blue Devils to section banner every year... Set school records in 1,600 and 3,200, capturing CIF-SJS titles in each... Went on to place 3rd in two mile at state track championships.

PERSONAL: Born in Woodland, Calif.... Majoring in biomedical engineering... Parents are Lance & Kerry Halsted... Kerry, formerly Kerry Neill, won 11 All-America awards for Aggie swimming in the mid-1980s (his aunt, Kristina Neill, won six more)... Selected as UC Davis' male representative for Big West Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2012.
