Frank, Relays Finish In Top 10 At Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. - Ryan Frank finished seventh in the top flight of the discus with a throw of 166 feet, 6 inches on Saturday as the UC Davis men garnered a trio of top-10 finishes on the second day of competition at the Stanford Invitational.

All Aggie competitors on Saturday competed in the top sections of their events, facing some of the best collegiate track athletes in the country.

Besides Frank's finish, UC Davis won its heat of the 400-meter relay in 41.64 seconds, finishing fourth overall, while the 1,600 relay took fifth in 3:13.35. The Aggie women had an 11th-place finish by Kim Gleeson in the shot put (40-3.25) to pace their day.

Also for UC Davis, Kajari Burns finished 12th in the 200 in 21.99 and Alfred Gibbs was 19th in the 400 in 49.83.The short relay was won by Washington State in 40.42 while Wichita State took the long relay in 3:12.10.

The women's 1,600 relay was 11th overall in 3:53.33.

UC Davis returns to action on Friday when it travels to rival Sacramento State as the teams compete in the Causeway Dual. Field events begin at 3 p.m.
