DAVIS, Calif. - Trevor Ehlenbach led a 1-2 Aggie finish with his win in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday afternoon while freshman Danielle Steffen had a personal-best while winning the pole vault as the UC Davis track and field teams finished competition at the Woody Wilson Classic held during Picnic Day activities on campus.

The Aggie women ended the two-day meet with four first-place finishes. The UC Davis men picked up three victories, two of them by Ehlenbach. The longtime meet was held in conjunction with the Woody Wilson High School Invitational for the first time.

Ehlenbach won the 800 on Friday afternoon and came back a day later to win the 1500 with a season-best time of 3 minutes, 54.98 seconds, also the fastest Aggie time this year. He was the first of three UC Davis runners in the top four, joined by Jordon Rushing who was second in 3:56.48 and Cody Nguyen who took fourth in 3:57.52.

Steffen, a freshman from Petaluma, had a big PR while capturing the pole vault. She cleared 12 feet, 5.5 inches - the Aggies' top mark this spring - while going over 12 feet for the first time this season. It was a nearly 8-inch PR for Steffen.

The Aggie women earned a trio of runner-up finishes on Saturday, including one by freshman Catherine Li who went 38-3.5 in the triple jump, debuting her at No. 10 on the program's career leaders list. Erika Barr finished second in the 1,500 while Emily Bush - who competed at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday before returning to UC Davis for Saturday's meet - was second in the pole vault at 12-1.5, the same season-high mark she had on Friday.

Praise Adesida took third in the shot put while Ninana Anderson was fourth in the 1,500.

Corey Hobbs added a runner-up placing for the UC Davis men, crossing the finish line of the 200 in a wind-aided time of 22.03. Kaio Sena, who was fourth in the 100 (10.86-wa), was fourth in the 200 as well in 22.11 (wind-aided).

Steven Pust was third in the pole vault while Ben Parodi was fourth in the shot put.

"Saturday brought a third full day of competition as we finished out the second of our two meets for the week," said Aggie head coach Drew Wartenburg. "As the Causeway Dual meet and conference championship weekends approach, athletes continue to post conference-qualifier and PR marks.

"From here on, the focus will involve both quality marks and head-to-head performances as we race for points and places in final rounds through the rapidly approaching postseason," he added. "This is a good time to see some breakout performances from athletes stepping up when it counts and we'll look for more sparks to catch in the weeks ahead."

UC Davis will host rival Sacramento State in the Causeway Dual on Friday before competing at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Saturday two days later.
