DAVIS, Calif. - Emily Bush's school record in the pole vault highlighted seven combined wins for the UC Davis men's and women's track and field teams at the annual Woody Wilson Classic held during Picnic Day activities on the Aggie campus Saturday afternoon.

The meet attracted more than 900 competitors and closed out a busy weekend of competition for UC Davis which also sent a contingent on Thursday and Friday to the Mt. SAC Relays in Southern California.

Bush, whose previous-best efforts of 3.75 meters (12 feet, 3.5 inches) in 2011 and 2012 tied her for fifth all-time at UC Davis, smashed that mark by clearing 4.02 meters (13-2.25). That broke the school record of 4.00 meters (13-1.50) set by Jennifer Swanson in 2000 and also established meet and stadium marks as well.

Bush went over 3.65 meters on her second attempt before setting PR's at 3.79 and 3.90 meters on her first tries. She broke the school record on her first attempt as well.

Her win was one of several for UC Davis competitors at the all-day meet. The women also earned first-places from Raquel Lambdin in the 1,500-meter run (4 minutes, 35.31 seconds), Hilary Teaford in the 5,000 (18:13.00), Courtney Crosta in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:16.95) and Katie Barber in the high jump (1.67m, 5-05.75). The Aggie men picked up wins from Igor Seriba in the triple jump (15.06m, 49-05.00) and from its 4x400 relay (3.16.92).

UC Davis coach Drew Wartenburg said the Aggies' performance on Saturday was a great culmination to a strong weekend that helped the teams get ready for high-level meets in front of them.

"The day stands on its own but I think when you look at the combination of the three days, there's a lot to take away from individual performances but also where set on some of the conference's descending order lists," he said. "I think we've truly caught back up. We got in a rough cycle after missing a meet (because of weather) at Fresno State. We're finally getting our rhythm back and really look to solidify things next weekend."

Seriba's triple jump effort marked a season-best for him while Brandon Greenberg established another PR in the shot put, finishing third in 16.45 meters (53-11.75) which solidified his No. 8 all-time position.

The Aggie men added five runner-up performances on Saturday including two by Jason Chandler who was second in the 200 (22.23) and the 400 (48.55).

Leslie Reed enjoyed a strong day in the sprints for UC Davis, grabbing second-place showings in both the 100 and 200. She went 12.23 seconds in the shorter race, tying a PR that has her No. 10 all-time, and then moved up a spot to No. 7 after finishing second in the 200 in 24.91. Cekarri Nixon also had a PR in the 200, crossing in 24.91 seconds which gave her eighth-place all-time to herself.

Kellie Grigg debuted on the 400 hurdles list at No. 8 after going 1:02.00, Veronica Smart is now No. 8 in the shot put (13.33m, 43-9) and Sarah Hussey is No. 9 in the hammer throw after finishing with a mark of 48.12 meters (157-10) when that event was held on Friday.

Barber's high jump mark is a PR, one of several for UC Davis this weekend.

UC Davis will return to action on Friday, traveling to battle rival Sacramento State in the Causeway Dual before sending a squad to Stanford on Sunday for the Payton Jordan Invitational.
