STANFORD - UC Davis' Alycia Cridebring and Sarah Sumpter broke their own school records in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs, respectively, on Sunday night as the Aggie duo shined during the Payton Jordan Track and Field Invitational at Stanford.

Both also set Big West Conference records.

Cridebring finished second in her section of the 5K, smashing her previous record by 17 seconds and crossing in 15 minutes, 49.05 seconds. Sumpter followed in a 10K race that began at nearly 11 p.m., taking fourth in her section in 33:18.51 while racing against a field comprised primarily of professional runners.

Cridebring used the same track to set her previous record of 16:06.14 at the Stanford Invitational earlier this season. Not only did she significantly lower the UC Davis record by becoming the first Aggie to break 16 minutes, she also set a Big West record previously held by Cal Poly's Laura Hollander who went 15:53.73 at the Mt. SAC Relays on Apr. 19.

Cridebring's time ranks sixth in the NCAA West Region and ninth nationally. She edged Kayleigh Tyerman of Florida State (15:49:07) for second place in Sunday's section.

Sumpter ran the 10,000 for the first time this year and also for the first time since setting a Big West Championship Meet record last May at UC Irvine. She responded with a fourth-place finish in her section in 33:18.51, just under her previous record of 33:19.77 established at the Stanford Invitational last season.

Sumpter's time also lowered the Big West record which she established with her impressive run at Stanford in 2012. Her latest 10K mark is ranked eighth regionally and ninth nationally. Sumpter earned All-America second-team honors in the event at last year's NCAA Championships.

UC Davis was also well-represented by alum and current volunteer assistant coach Kim Conley who won the top section of Sunday's 5K in 15:22.07. The Olympian, whose rise to international prominence was a big story last summer, competes for New Balance.

UC Davis will return to action this weekend when it sends some competitors to the Sacramento State open for final tuneups prior to next week's Big West Championships. The Aggies' multi-event crew will try and score early points when they take part in league's multi-event championships this weekend at Cal State Northridge.
