EUGENE, Ore. -- UC Davis junior Erinn Beattie concluded her 2018 outdoor track and field season with second-place tie in the women's high jump, the best Division I finish in UC Davis history, to highlight her action at the NCAA Championships that took place at Oregon's Historic Hayward Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Ventura, California, native was among one of three student-athletes to successfully clear a 1.82m/5-11.50 height, the highest mark in the competition; however, UT Arlington's Alexus Henry came away with the individual title as a result of less attempts taken to achieve the winning mark. Beattie and Cincinnati's Loretta Blaut were the runner-ups, besting 21 of the 24 total competitors at the championship meet.
Beattie's action at the NCAA Championships officially rounded out the 2018 outdoor track and field season for the UC Davis squad. Both Aggies that competed at this post-season championship earned All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Beattie received first-team accolades for finishing within the top eight, while UC Davis senior Marc Toney nabbed second-team billing by virtue of finishing among the 9th through 16th places.
