Updated meet schedule

DAVIS, Calif. - Coming off its home-opener last week in which they captured eight events, the UC Davis men's and women's track and field teams will try to keep the momentum going on Saturday when they host the inaugural UC Davis Classic at Woody Wilson Track.

The meet, added to the schedule in place of the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State due to facility upgrades at that university, will begin with the men's javelin, women's hammer and women's long jump at 9:30 a.m. The field events continue through the men's discus which starts at 4:15 p.m.

Events on the track will start with the women's 5,000-meter run and move throughout the day with sprints, relays and other running events, concluding with the always exciting 4x400 relays at 4:45.

Several hundred athletes representing four-year schools, community college, clubs and unattached competitors are scheduled to take part in the meet. The UC Davis Classic is the second of three home meets on the UC Davis schedule. It opened its home slate with the Aggie Open last weekend in which the men's squad won five events and the women captured three.

UC Davis will also host the popular Woody Wilson Classic during Picnic Day activities n Apr. 17.
