SAN MARCOS, Texas - The bulk of the UC Davis men's and women's track and field teams continue to train through a three-week layoff that resumes next week but the Aggies will still be in action when sprinters take part in the Bobcat Invitational at Texas State this weekend.
The meet was a late addition this week to the UC Davis season.
The competition is the first for UC Davis since hosting the Aggie Open on Mar. 15. The teams took a break for final exams last weekend and will resume in earnest next week at both San Francisco State and Stanford.
The Aggies' contingent to Texas will race spread throughout the 100-, 200- and 400-meter races as well as the hurdles events. UC Davis is also entered in both the men's and women's 4x100 relays.
The sprint corps has had a strong start to the 2014 season. Ashley Marshall is ranked No. 8 and No. 21, respectively, in the 100 (11.58 seconds) and 200 (23.96) events among all Div. I runners. Karl Moran is ranked 24th nationally in the 400 hurdles.
Both the men and women have also posted ranked times in the short relay with the men (41.16) currently 49th among all Div. I teams while the women (45.70) are 27th.
The 100, 400 hurdles and open 400 are scheduled for Friday while the relay, 200 and 100 hurdles are on Saturday. Boyadjiev will also compete in the long jump, scheduled for Saturday.
