STANFORD, Calif. - After taking a break for final exams, the UC Davis men's and women's track and field teams return to action with a busy weekend at the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
The Aggies will have 15 entries for Friday's meet at San Francisco and a total of 50 entries at Stanford which will host its large meet on Friday and Saturday.

Friday's Distance Carnival begins with the 10,000-meter run at 8 a.m. and continues through the men's 400 which takes place at approximately 6:20 p.m. The Stanford Invitational runs all day on both Friday and Saturday and includes high school competition as well.

For UC Davis, the season begins to take on a highly competitive tone with meets at Arizona State (Sun Angel Invitational) and Sacramento State (Mondo Invitational) heading into the the Aggies' own Woody Wilson Classic in mid-April.

UC Davis has enjoyed a strong start to the outdoor season, particularly on the women's side where the Aggies captured both Big West Track and Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors each of the first three weeks. Additionally, Ashley Marshall (24.02, 200m) and the 4x100 relay (45.26) have each set school records, both of those coming at the Hornet Invitational two weeks ago.

The Aggie women currently have nine marks that currently rank among the top 50 nationally, including Alycia Cridebring (16:30.85) and Sarah Sumpter (16:33.66) who are third and fourth, respectively, in the 5,000, and Raquel Lambdin who is seventh in the 1,500 (4:24.07).

Co-school record-holder Ethan Ostrom, leads a pair of UC Davis men ranked in the top 50 with his mark of 17 feet, 0.75 inches in the pole vault. That mark, earned at the Aggie Open in early March, is 17th nationally. Grayson Hough is ranked 39th in the 5,000 after going 14:46.22 at the same meet.
