IRVINE, Calif. - UC Davis junior Ashley Marshall, who ran the second leg of the Aggies' winning 4x100-meter relay while also turning in two other strong sprints last weekend, was named the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Marshall, from Moreno Valley, Calif., finished third in the 100-meter dash at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational with a wind-aided time of 11.32 seconds. She came back a day later on Saturday to take second in the 200 in 23.75 seconds.

Her 100-meter time would've broken her own school record of 11.34 seconds had it been wind-legal. However, it still ranks No. 1 in the Big West this season and No. 6 nationally.

Marshall, last year's conference women's track athlete of the year, also helped the Aggies post the fourth-fastest short relay time (45.50) in the Big West this year.

She also won the Big West award on Mar. 11 and 18.

Distance runner Shyan Vaziri of UC Santa Barbara was named the Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week while UC Riverside jumpers Ted Hooper and Phoenisha Schuhmeier received the men's and women's field awards, respectively.

Marshall was part of four UC Davis women sprinters who made the trek to Texas for competition last weekend. They'll join their teammates this weekend for meets at San Francisco State and Stanford.
