DAVIS, Calif. - Alycia Cridebring, who set a UC Davis women's track and field record in the 5,000-meter run at the Stanford Invitational on Friday evening, was named the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for the second time this season.
Cridebring, a junior from Pleasant Hill, captured the conference honor after finishing second in her section of the 5,000 in a time of 16 minutes, 6.14 seconds, beating the previous school record of 16:17.51 set by former standout Kim Conley in 2009. The time was an approximately 24-second PR for Cridebring, is the fastest in the Big West this season and is ranked sixth in the NCAA West Region and is 12th nationally.
She also captured Big West Track Athlete of the Week honors in March after winning the 5K at the Aggie Open.
UC Davis will return to competition this weekend, traveling to the Sun Angel Invitational at Arizona State.
