DAVIS, Calif. - Alycia Cridebring was named the Big West Female Track Athlete of the Week Tuesday for the fourth time this season after a record-breaking effort in the 5,000-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford on Sunday night.

Cridebring, a junior from Pleasant Hill, Calif., set a Big West and UC Davis record in the 5K with a time of 15 minutes, 49.05 in her section of the event. It broke the week-old conference mark of 15:53.73 set by Laura Hollander of Cal Poly while lowering her own school record by 17 seconds which Cridebring set at the Stanford Invitational this season.

Her mark ranks No. 6 in the NCAA West Region and is 12th nationally.

Cridebring has been honored three previous times this season. She was twice recognized for strong 5K performances and once for the 1,500. She has lowered her 5,000 time nearly 40 seconds this season.

The Aggie women's team has been honored with nine Big West track or field athlete of the week honors this season.

The men's award winner Tuesday was Gabe Hilbert (800m) of Long Beach State while field event honorees were Cal Poly's Jon Prader (pole vault) and Itos Aikhionbare of UC Irvine (throws).

UC Davis will send its decathletes and heptathletes to the Big West Multi-Event Championships this week while many of the remaining team members will be at the Sacramento State Open.
