DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis duo of sophomore Erinn Beattie and senior Rianna Goins gear up for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Oregon at legendary Hayward Field this Wednesday through Saturday. Goins will open action in the semifinal round of the women's 800 meters on Thursday night, while Beattie competes the women's high jump final on Saturday afternoon.

To advance to the Saturday 800 final, Goins will have to finish among the top two in her heat or among one of the two at-large finishers from all three semifinals. She will run in Lane 1 of the second semi heat on Thursday.

At least one of the ESPN stations will broadcast each day of the national meet, with ESPN providing coverage for all four days. ESPN2 will carry Thursday's action beginning at 4:30 p.m. PDT, while the flagship ESPN will air Saturday's portion beginning at 3:30 p.m. Live results are also available via the NCAA website. UPDATE 6/7: The NCAA has since provided event-by-event links to watch each event. Links are above.

Both Aggie student-athletes advanced to the national meet by virtue of their respective finishes at the West Preliminary meet, held at the University of Texas in late May. Goins ran a personal-best 2:05.42 in the first of three quarterfinals on that Friday, nabbing the third and final at-large berth. She becomes the second UC Davis woman to advance to the national meet in the event, joining 2013 All-American Lauren Wallace.

A human development major from Anaheim Hills, Goins entered the season with a PR of 2:06.74 in the 800, but surpassed that mark three times in 2017. She went 2:05.72 at the Mt. SAC Relays in April 14, ran a 2:06.33 at Cal's Brutus Hamilton Challenge two weeks later, then bested both of those marks with her time at the NCAA quarters. Goins also went 2:08.82 to win her second consecutive Big West Conference title and posted a 2:07.63 in the NCAA first round in Austin.

Beattie, a human development student from Ventura, held a share of the school high jump record entering the 2017 season. She posted a jump of 1.76 meters (5-foot-9.25) at the 2016 Mondo Challenge to join Katie Barber atop the school list, then matched that height at this year's Hornet Invitational on March 18. Beattie, who also ranks second in UC Davis history in the heptathlon, reclaimed the school benchmark with a winning 1.80m (5-10.75) to capture a Big West title. She then tied for ninth place at 1.79m (5-10.5) at the West Prelims to punch her ticket to Eugene.

Goins and Beattie become the eighth and ninth UC Davis women to reach the NCAA national meet since the university began official Division I classification in 2007-08. Past Aggie female competitors comprise Ashley Hearn (discus, 2012), Sarah Sumpter (10K, 2012), Katie Fry (steeplechase, 2013); Wallace (800, 2013), Ashley Marshall (100, 2013 and 2014), Raquel Lambdin (1,500, 2014 and 2015) and Erika Barr (steeplechase, 2016). Hearn (third place) and Lambdin (fifth in 2015) are the highest national D-I finishers in program history.
