Bennett, Cridebring Earn Academic Distinctions

DAVIS, Calif. - Brock Bennett and Alycia Cridebring, who reached the NCAA Track and Field West Regional this past spring, have each earned distinction on the USTFFCCA Div. I All-Academic team, it was announced recently.

Honorees must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and competed at the regional meet.

Bennett, from Medford, Ore., completed his eligibility in 2012 after another standout season for the Aggies. He finished third in the javelin at the Big West Championships before advancing to the regional meet at Texas for the second consecutive season. He was the Big West runner-up in 2011.

Bennett, who majored in exercise biology, is an Big West All-Academic honoree and was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association team for the second straight season.

Cridebring, an environmental science and management major from Pleasant Hill, is entering her junior season with the Aggies. She also enjoyed an impressive season in 2012, capturing the Big West title in the 1,500-meter run, finishing second in the 5,000 and helping the UC Davis women capture their first-ever conference title.

Cridebring advanced to the regional in the 5K and is also a Big West All-Academic honoree.

A total of 431 student-athletes earned distinction on the USTFCCA team.
