UC Davis T&F signs four to NLIs

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis track and field welcomes four Californian female student-athletes to the Aggie family from the 2018 recruiting class after signing National Letters of Intent during the November signing period, as announced by head track and field coach Rahn Sheffield. Alphabetically, the soon-to-be Aggies are Kirsten Carter of Santa Rosa High School, Sadye Peschke of Bella Vista High School, Anya Sturm of Santa Monica High School, and Anaya Ward of Santa Cruz High School.

KIRSTEN CARTER (Santa Rosa High School ’18)
Starting her freshman year with the 2015 outdoor season, and up until her most recent outdoor season in 2017, Carter has competed in the the 100m, 200m, 400m, and the long jump for the Panthers. Her 100m personal best of 11.78 seconds was set in the 2017 outdoor season, while her 200m, 400m, and long jump personal bests of 23.80 seconds, 54.24 seconds, and 18’ 10.75, respectively, were set in the 2015 outdoor season. One of her highlight performances during the 2017 season took place at the CIF State Championships, where she garnered a sixth place finish in the 100m event, as well as an eighth place finish in the 200m event.

SADYE PESCHKE (Bella Vista High School ’18)
Peschke currently competes in the 100m, 200m, 100m hurdles, and the 300m hurdles at Bella Vista High School. Her personal bests of 12.94 seconds in the 100m, 25.73 seconds in the 200m, 14.62 seconds in the 100m hurdles, and 42.47 seconds in the 300m hurdles were set in the 2017 outdoor season. One of her highlight performances during the 2017 season took place at the Sacramento Meet of Champions, where she got second place in the 300m hurdles and fourth place in the 100m hurdles.

ANYA STURM (Santa Monica High School ’18)
Sturm, a distance runner at Santa Monica High School, competes in the 800m, 1600m, and the 3200m events for track and field, along with the three-mile and 5000m runs for cross country. All three of her current personal bests were set in the 2017 outdoor season: a 2:27.76 time in the 800m, 5:06.59 time in the 1600m, and an 11:05.98 time in the 3200m. Her three-mile and 5000m cross country personal best times of 17:07.3 and 19:18.1, respectively, were set during cross country’s 2017 season.

ANAYA WARD (Santa Cruz High School ’18)
Ward, a member of both the cross country and track and field team at Santa Cruz High School, has been competing in the 800m and 1600m events since her debut 2015 outdoor season, as well as the three-mile run for cross country. Ward set her 800m personal best time of 2:14.48 and her 1600m personal best time of 5:02.37 during the 2017 outdoor season, while getting her three-mile personal best time of 19:28.3 in cross country’s 2017 season.

All four PSAs are currently seniors at their respective high schools, and are expected to enroll at the university starting in the fall of 2018.
