DAVIS, Calif. - Nearly 40 UC Davis student-athletes, representing five fall teams, earned recognition for their efforts in the classroom when they were named to the Big West Academic All-Conference team, announced by the league on Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for Big West All-Academic honors, student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the year for which the award is bestowed, and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests for that year.
UC Davis was well-represented across the spectrum of fall sports. Women's cross country had five make the list, including sophomores Erika Barr and Kaz Shidara, and seniors Alycia Cridebring, Shannon Harcus and Sarah Sumpter. The men's cross country squad had seven earn distinction, a group that includes sophomores Amar Dholakia, Patrick Fitzgerald and Eric Neil, juniors Trevor Ehlenbach, Trevor Halsted and Will Melton, and senior Grayson Hough.
