DAVIS, Calif. - Cross country student-athlete Trevor Halsted added yet another award to his growing collection, when the Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association named the sophomore to its Capital One Men's Track and Field & Cross Country All-Academic District 8 team.

District 8 encompasses the West Coast and mountain states and Halsted was one of just 12 runners honored from that large pool. He is also just one of three from California schools (Santa Clara, UCLA) and one of two underclassmen to be placed on the team. The award takes into account both academic and athletic excellence.

Halsted, a Davis HS graduate, was named the Aggies' MVP during the 2012 cross country season after earning All-Big West honors. The biomedical engineering major has been ranked first in his class in the College of Engineering with a perfect 4.0 GPA for five consecutive quarters, is a Regents Scholar and is a member of the Integrated Studies Honors Program.

During the cross country season, Halsted finished sixth overall at the Big West Championships with a time of 24:23.3 and followed that performance up with a 20th place finish at the NCAA West Regionals.
