UC Davis invites entries for 2014 Aggie Open

DAVIS, Calif. -- Entries for the UC Davis men's and women's cross country season-opening Aggie Open are now being accepted, kicking off the team's 2014 schedule on Aug. 30 at the Putah Creek Reserve course in Davis, California.

Typically consisting of runners from UC Davis and Sacramento State alongside a number of unattached competitors, the women's 4K race begins at 9 a.m., with the men's 6K to follow at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Directions to the course, as well as other information about the meet, is included in the PDF linked above. The deadline for entries, via email to coach Devin Elizondo, is noon on Aug. 27.

The Aggie Open is the first of two home meets for UC Davis, which also includes the Doc Adams Open in early November. Following their season-opener, the Aggies will stay close to home in September for the WCC Preview in Sunnyvale, California, and the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California.

UC Davis splits its teams for its only competitions in October, sending squads to Indiana for the NCAA Pre-Nationals as well as the Santa Clara Invitational, before ringing in the month of November with the Big West Conference Championships hosted by UC Riverside.

Hosted by Stanford, the NCAA West Regional will be held on Nov. 14 in Palo Alto, while the NCAA Championships will be contested on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
