AGGIES SEND SQUADS TO NCAA PRE-NATIONALS, BRONCO INVITE
The UC Davis men's and women's cross country teams will split up for two meets on Saturday.
The Aggie women's travel squad will make a cross-country trip to Louisville, Kent. for the NCAA Div. I Pre-National Meet... The 6K women's "red" race will begin at 7:15 a.m. PT.
UC Davis will suit up two invitational squads as well as a men's open squad for the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara... The women's 5K invitational race begins at 9:45 a.m. while the men's 8K invitational race is at 10:30 a.m.... The men's 8K open race begins at 11:15 a.m.

SCOUTING THE NCAA PRE-NATIONALS WOMEN'S FIELD
The UC Davis women join the elite Div. I cross country teams from around the country in a precursor to the national championships.
Florida State's women are currently the No. 1 team in the country and highlight a field that also features No. 4 Oregon, No. 6 Georgetown and No. 8 Michigan.
In total, eight teams ranked in the top 25 by the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) will be in competition on Saturday, inluding No. 17 William and Mary, No. 18 Colorado, No. 24 Villanova and No. 25 Butler... Kentucky, Florida and Texas are receiving votes in the national poll.
Big West Conference member UC Santa Barbara will also make the trip to Louisville.
A LOOK AT THE AGGIE WOMEN
With an ultimate goal of reaching the NCAA Div. I Championship as a team, UC Davis will send its main travel squad to Louisville to simulate the competition at the national championship.
Alycia Cridebring, Katie Fry, Christine Hoffman, Raquel Lambdin, Kristine Lozoya, Sarah Sumpter and Lauren Wallace will represent UC Davis on Saturday.
Most of the group last competed at the Pac-12 Preview on Sept. 21 as Sumpter finished second while Cridebring was fifth at the UCLA-hosted meet... The women tied for second overall.
Fry and Lambdin finished in the top 30, placing 14th and 24th, respectively while Hoffman was 28th in a time of 18:44.
Lozoya's lone appearance of the season was at the season-opening Aggie Open where she finished third overall.
SCOUTING THE BRONCO INVITATIONAL FIELD
The Bronco Invitational will feature a highly competitive field of West Region and Big West Conference teams.
In the women's 5K invitational race, UC Davis will face fellow league opponents Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State in addition to Cal, Colorado, Fresno State, New Mexico State and Sacramento State... San Diego, Saint Mary's and UCLA also higlight the field.
The men's 8K invitational features the same slate of opponents, including Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State.
A LOOK AT THE AGGIES
On the women's side, eight Aggies will compete in the 5K invitational race: Nicole Aha, Erika Barr, Shannon Harcus, Katie Ott, Venus Shabgahi, Hilary Teaford, Anna Welsh and Melinda Zavala.
Shabgahi led a contingent of Aggie women at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29, placing 34th as the women's top finisher... Zavala, Welsh and Barr also competed in the women's 6K race at Stanford, helping UC Davis to a 10th place finish out of 34 teams.
Miguel Aceves, Amar Dholakia, Trevor Halsted, Grayson Hough, Cody Nguyen, Brandon Pugh, Nick Ratto and Jordon Rushing will represent UC Davis in the men's 8K invitational.
Halsted is the reigning Big West Athlete of the Week after a 13th-place finish at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29... Hough was UC Davis' No. 2 finisher at Stanford and was followed by Pugh, Rushing, Ratto, Dholakia and Nguyen.
Aceves will make his UC Davis debut on Saturday.
Five other Aggie men will compete in the 8K open race: Tanner Barnes, Trevor Ehlenbach, Patrick Fitzgerald, Eric Neill and Joseph Rivera.
HALSTED NAMED BIG WEST ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
UC Davis sophomore Trevor Halsted earned his first-ever Big West Athlete of the Week accolade after a 13th-place finish at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29.
He was UC Davis' top finisher in a field of 265 runners and 29 teams, clocking in at 24:37 in the men's 8K race.
It marks the second time this season that Halsted has paced the Aggies in competition.
COMING UP NEXT
UC Davis will prepare for the Big West Conference Championships on Oct. 27... Hosted by UC Riverside, the meet will be held at the UC Riverside Ag/Ops Course.
The women's 6K race begins at 8:45 a.m. while the men's 8K will follow at 9:30 a.m.
