BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS UP NEXT FOR CROSS COUNTRY
• The UC Davis men's cross country team will look to defend its 2010 team title while the women's side will search for its first conference championship on Saturday.
• The men's 8K race will begin at 8:45 a.m. while the women's 6K race will follow at 9:35 a.m.

SCOUTING THE MEN'S FIELD AT THE BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
• The UC Davis men look to defend their 2010 title but will see tough competition from UC Riverside... The Highlanders are running on their own home course and recorded three of the top 10 performances in the Big West this year.
• Chad Hall owns the fastest time in the conference after he turned in a time of 23:18.91 at the Bill Delinger Invitational on Oct. 1.
• The UC Riverside men finished second in 2010 and have been in the top four the three years prior.
• Cal Poly's Daniel Gonia owns the conference's third-fastest 8K time (23:48.6) as the Mustangs are ranked seventh regionally.
• Long Beach State is ranked ninth in the region while UC Santa Barbara is 11th... Heath Reedy and Matt Maldonado each own top 10 times in the conference for Long Beach State.

SCOUTING THE WOMEN'S FIELD AT THE BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Behind 2009 individual champion Sarah Sumpter, senior Krista Drechsler and sophomore Alycia Cridebring, the UC Davis women's team is poised to capture its first team title... The Aggies are ranked 7th regionally.
• Sumpter, Drechsler and Cridebring have finished as the top three runners for UC Davis at the Hornet Jamboree (Sept. 10), the Stanford Invitational (Sept. 24) and the NCAA Pre-Nationals (Oct. 16).
• UC Santa Barbara took home the 2010 title, but Amanda Moreno, Breanne Strenkowski and Crystal Reed, who finished one-two-three in last year's event, graduated, leaving a void the Gauchos will try to fill.
• UC Riverside's Katy Daly holds the top time of the season in the women's 6K with a mark of 20:56.5.
• Cal Poly finished just two points behind UC Santa Barbara in the 2010 championship and hold two of the top 10 performances this year in Leanne Fogg and Meghan Breadmore.

LAST YEAR AT THE BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
• The UC Davis men's team brought home cross country's first-ever Big West Conference team championship while Jonathan Peterson won the men's individual title.
• For the Aggie men, Calvin Thigpen finished third while Jonathan Sees finished sixth, placing three Aggies in the top ten... UC Davis totaled 64 points to outlast UC Riverside who finished second with 66 points.
• The Aggie women were led by Krista Drechsler's 14th-place finish and were fifth overall... UC Santa Barbara won the women's title with 35 points.

CONLEY SEVENTH AT PAN-AM GAMES
• Assistant cross country coach Kim Conley finished seventh overall in the 5,000-meter distance event on Thursday at the 2011 Pan-American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
• She finished third overall at the USA Women's 10K Championships in Boston on Oct. 10 and was runner-up at the USA 5K Championships in Providence, R.I. on Sept. 18.
• In 2011, Conley has set personal bests on the track of 4:11 (1500m) and 15:38 (5000m).

RECAP: NCAA PRE-NATIONALS
• The women's team finished sixth overall and were paced by Sarah Sumpter's 25th-place finish and Krista Drechsler's 29th-place showing.
• Sumpter clocked in at 21:27 while Drechsler recorded a time of 21:32... Alycia Cridebring was 36th in a time of 21:42.
• For the men, Jonathan Peterson turned in an 11th-place finish individually with his time of 24:27 in the 8K race.

RECAP: BRONCO INVITATIONAL
• UC Davis was led by sophomore Shannon Harcus who was 36th overall in a time of 17:57.1... She broke the 18-minute mark for the first time in her career.
• The Aggie women finished 14th overall.
• The UC Davis men were represented by Joseph Rivera, Trevor Ehlenbach and Deigo Escobar in the 8K race.

COMING UP NEXT
• UC Davis will host the Doc Adams Open on Saturday, Nov. 5 before traveling to the NCAA West Regional, hosted by Stanford, on Nov. 12.
