DAVIS, Calif. — Coming off a full-week break after the Big West Conference Championships, the UC Davis cross country teams will make a trip up north to run at the Jefferson Park Golf Course at Washington for the NCAA West Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 10.

UC Davis will be one of over thirty men’s and women’s cross country teams competing at this event. The Aggies, as well as every top squad in the West, will all race for a chance to earn a spot on the starting line at the NCAA Championships, which will take place in Louisville, Kent, on Nov. 18.

For the NCAA West Regional Championships, the day will begin with the women’s 6K at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K race at 11:30 a.m. A live stream of the race will be available, starting at 10 a.m., through FloPRO, but a monetary subscription is required.

As of the time of release, UC Davis is scheduled to travel seven representatives from each squad. The women’s cross country team will have juniors Megan MacGregor and Christine Bayliss, sophomores Haley Adel, Sarah Anderson, Julia Lemak, and Lauren Powers, as well as freshman Alexis Ballman, while the men’s squad will have graduate students Thomas Madden and Jon Horvath, seniors Jesus Salas Jr. and Anthony Sanchez, juniors Jordy Ceja and Kiernan Elam, as well as freshman Ryman Crone

To recap the top highlights from the Big West Conference Championships, the last competition the Aggies participated in, Madden won first place in the individual event, while Ceja got eighth, to help the team garner a fourth-place finish in the 8K race. Anderson was the first Aggie contingent to cross the line for the women’s 6K race, ending her day with an individual fifth-place finish, as well as helping the squad finish in fifth place.

Madden, Ceja, and Anderson all earned All-Conference honors based on their conference performances. The criterion for earning All-Conference honors is that an individual must finish within the top 10 at the Big West Conference Championships. In addition, Madden was also awarded with the 2017 Men’s Athlete of the Year award, as announced by the Big West Conference on Nov. 2.

After the NCAA West Regional Championships, the runners that qualify to the NCAA Championships will be making their way to Louisville, Kent., the Saturday of the following week, Nov. 18.

Ranked among the top 10 public universities in the nation according to the Wall Street Journal and U.S. News and World Report, UC Davis offers nearly 100 graduate programs and more than 100 undergraduate majors across four colleges and six professional schools, including the world's top-ranked veterinary science and agriculture programs.
