DAVIS, Calif. -- Coming off top-three finishes at last weekend's Big West Conference Championships, the UC Davis men's and women's cross country teams host their second meet of the 2013 season with the sixth-annual Doc Adams Open this Saturday at the Putah Creek Reserve Course in Davis.

The men's 8K race begins at 10 a.m., and will be followed by the women's 6K at 10:45 a.m. Results will be posted at UCDavisAggies.com following the completion of both competitions as soon as they are available.

Last season, the Aggies' women's squad had all seven runners finish in the top 20 to place second overall in the team standings. Melinda Zavala finished fourth overall to lead the women with a time of 21:48 and was followed by Anna Welsh in eighth overall with a time of 22:06.

On the men's side, Eric Neill paced the UC Davis pack, completing the 8K course in a time of 25:40 to finish 22nd and help the men to a sixth-place finish as a team.

Both squads are coming off solid finishes at the Big West Championships a week ago with the women placing three runners in the top 10 en route to a second-place team finish while the men also placed three among the first 10 across the line as the Aggies finished third.

Junior Katie Fry finished second overall at the Big West meet, covering the course in 21:49.5 ahead of senior teammates Alycia Cridebring and Sarah Sumpter, who were separated by just three-tenths of a second to finish seventh and eighth, respectively.

On the men's side, sophomore Brandon Pugh came away with a third-place individual finish with a time of 25:27.0, and was followed by junior Trevor Halsted (25:42.9) and senior Grayson Hough (26:11.3) in the top 10.
