AS A SOPHOMORE (2012): Made 15 appearances - all in relief - in his debut season... Finished the year with a 3.94 ERA over 32 innings pitched... Struck out 19 while sacrificing just 10 free passes... First appearance came in second game of the year against Utah... Went 3 innings of relief against the Utes, sacrificing just one run on one hit and one strike out... Pitched a season-high 4.2 innings against Cal Poly on May 6, holding the Mustangs scoreless while striking out six batters.... Went four complete innings at San Jose State on Feb. 21, giving up just one run on five hits to go with three strikeouts.

AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Redshirted.

MONTE VISTA HS `10: Selected as team's Most Valuable Player after earning All-East Bay Athletic League honorable mention accolades as a senior in 2010... Recorded 41 strikeouts in 53.1 innings pitched for a 1.97 earned run average... Led Monte Vista HS to back-to-back North Coast Section quarterfinal appearances in 2008 and 2009 and a second place finish in the EBAL in 2009... Three-year member of the honor roll and an two-time NCS Scholar-Athlete... Played with the Danville Hoots club team, winning Connie Mack Western Regional Championship and advancing to state finals.

PERSONAL: Born in Walnut Creek, Calif.... Parents are Ed and Gina Lanza... Majoring in civil engineering... Career highlight was his complete game shutout against Casa Grande HS when he gave up just one hit.
