Former UC Davis standout Daniel Descalso wins a World Series as part of the St. Louis Cardinals.

2006: Started 41 of 43 games played... Batted .284 (46-for-162) with 10 doubles and 3 homers... Second on team with 31 runs... Drew 20 walks, compiling .359 on-base average... Had delayed start to season due to injury, but came back with a rampage... Hit 10-for-17 (.588) in first five games... Posted 14 multi-hit games... Hit 3-run shot and drove in 4 runs to pace Aggie comeback in 8-7 win over Utah Valley State (3/11)... Batted .500 (8-for-16) during first week of May, including 3-for-4 with homer at USF (5/2).

2005: ALL-DIV. I INDEPENDENT SECOND TEAM... One of two Aggies to appear in all 56 games (along with Brandon Oliver), starting 55... Did not miss an inning after the third game of the year... Led team in batting (.320), at-bats (225), hits (72) and total bases (92)... Also had 10 doubles, 2 triples and 2 homers for .409 slugging... Became the first true freshman to lead UC Davis in batting since Gary Schlagenhauf in 1967 (Ryan Coultas was a redshirt freshman in 2002)... Had 20 multi-hit games, including 5-for-5, 5-RBI performance in 7-inning game vs. Portland (2/26)... Doubled and homered (his first career HR) in that game... Went 9-for-17 in the series with the Pilots (2/25-2/26)... Enjoyed 11-game hitting streak (3/11-4/5), then had a 10-gamer shortly after (4/10-4/29)... Rapped out 2-run double in sixth to give Aggies their lead in 8-7 upset over Cal (5/24).

ST. FRANCIS HS '04: Twice made All-Central Coast Section squads, including first team as a senior, second team as a junior... Also selected as CCS Player of the Year by Cal-Hi Sports... Named on West Catholic Athletic League first teams in each of last two seasons, plus garnered WCAL MVP distinction in 2004... Also starred in football, winning first-team All-WCAL, second-team All-CCS and honorable mention All-Metro as a senior... Helped team to three straight WCAL baseball championships... Played summer ball for Bay Area A's.
