2011: ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-WEST REGION SECOND TEAM... ALL-BIG WEST CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM... One of just two Aggies to appear in all 54 games, starting 53 as either an outfielder or designated hitter... Led the team offensively with a .321 batting average and posted a team-high 63 hits and 23 RBI... Drove in three runs in a 2-for-3 outing at San Jose State on Feb. 22... Went 2-for-4 with a run, two triples and a career-high five RBI in UC Davis' 11-1 win over Long Beach State on Apr. 9... Put together 14-game hitting streak during second half of the season, beginning with 2-for-2 outing against Cal State Northridge on Apr. 29... Hit .477 (21-44) during the streak, with six runs, seven RBI, five doubles and a home run... Hit cleanly in all three games of the season-ending series against UC Riverside... Raised batting average to .337 during Big West play, recording 30 hits, nine runs and 13 RBI... Also made 13 relief appearances on the mound, recording a 1.37 ERA in 19.2 innings of work... Allowed seven runs, but just three were earned... Struck out 10, including a season-high three at San Jose State on Mar. 28.

2010: ALL-BIG WEST CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM... Led the team in batting average (.388), hits (73) and RBIs (43) while also making 16 appearances as a relief pitcher... Also put up 15 doubles, 3 triples and 5 home runs... Had 21 multiple-hit games, including two games with four hits... Opened season with 3-for-3 outing against Utah Feb. 19, which included a double, a homer, 3 RBIs and 2 runs... Went 3-for-4 with a home run at Sacramento State (3/5)... Hit a team-leading .383 in Big West games... Named Big West Player of the Week May 24 after hitting 11-for-14 with 4 runs, 8 RBIs, a double and 2 home runs in a three-game series at UC Santa Barbara... That series was part of an 11-game hitting streak that started May 14 and lasted through the end of the season... Made 16 total appearances on the mound for the Aggies and went 3-2 on the mound with a 6.67 ERA... Pitched 29.2 innings and struck out 18 batters... Fanned a season-high five batters in 6.0 innings against Santa Clara (5/19)... Recorded four strikeouts in 6.0 innings against Saint Mary's (5/11).

2009: Pitched in 11 games with one start (San Diego State, 4/3)... Went 0-1 with 13.08 ERA in 21.1 innings... Fanned two in 2.0 scoreless vs. Sacramento State (3/15)... Longest outing was 4.1 vs. Pacific (3/28), allowing just two hits and one ER... Also batted 2-for-18 (.111) in pinch-hitting and DH appearances.

ST. AUGUSTINE HS '08: Received first-team All-Eastern League honors as a junior and senior, including Player of the Year distinction in 2008... Also captured All-San Diego Section acclaim each year... Added first-team all-state (medium schools) as a senior... Batted .422 with 8 homers, 42 RBIs and a .525 OBA in 2008, while posting 5-2 record and 3.02 ERA on the mound... Also played quarterback, throwing for 1,304 yards and 16 touchdowns in his senior season.

PERSONAL: Born in San Diego, Calif.... Has not declared a major... parents are Michael and Delores Popkins... Career plans, if not professional baseball, are to become an attorney or sports agent... A moment in history he wishes he could have witnessed is the 1903 World Series.
