CAMPOLINDO HS '00: Earned first-team all-state (for small schools) and All-Tri-County Athletic League honors as a senior... Batted .380 that year, leading team to 19-6 record and North Coast Section title... Batted .467 as a junior, earning first-team All-Contra Costa Times honors... Also a standout in football... Scored 10 TDs as a senior wide receiver and earned second team All-TRAC... Led Bay Area with 27.5 yards per catch.

PERSONAL: Born Sept. 24, 1982 in Santa Rosa, Calif.... Managerial economics major... Parents are Bradley & Kelly Irving... Dream vacation would be a fly fishing excursion in Alaska... Would title his autobiography, "Grind For Nine: Ninety-Foot Victories"... Favorite facility in which he's played is Stanford's Sunken Diamond... Best athlete he's faced is former NL Rookie of the Year Dontrelle Willis, then of Encinal HS.
