2015: Started 14 games as the Aggies' Friday night starter... Finished the season with a career-high six wins, leading the starting rotation with a 3.59 ERA... Finished second on the team in innings pitched (87.2) and third in strikeouts (52)... Threw his first career complete game in an 8-3 win against nationally ranked UC Irvine on April 17, allowing one earned on seven hits and striking out three... Struck out a season-high six batters three times against Portland (Feb. 27), Pacific (April 24), and Cal Poly (May 22)... Threw eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four, for his first win of the season against Gonzaga on Feb. 20... Held Cal State Fullerton to just one run on two hits over five innings to get the win on April 10... Collected eight "quality starts" on the year.
2014: Made 15 appearances on the mound, starting 13 games as the Aggies' regular Saturday starter... Shared the team lead in victories with a 4-3 record and a team-best 2.84 ERA... Held opposing hitters to a .258 average... Ranked ninth in the Big West Conference in fewest hits allowed, tied for ninth in fewest runs allowed, and 10th in fewest earned runs allowed... Combined on an 11-0 shutout of Cal State Northridge on May 3 with teammate Raul Jacobson, allowing just four hits in six innings against the Matadors... Started the year 3-0 with wins over Portland (Feb. 21), New Mexico State (March 15), and Saint Mary's (April 2)... Stuck out a career-high five in his win over New Mexico State, allowing just a run on four hits... Threw a season-high six innings four times... Finished 1-0 with three no decisions in four quality starts (six innings pitched, three earned runs or fewer) on the season, posting a 0.38 ERA and a .195 average against in those games.
2013: Made 15 appearances with 14 starts as the Aggies' regular Saturday starting pitcher... Went 1-9 with a 5.54 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched... Struck out 37 batters while walking 24... Shined in a start against No. 4-ranked Cal State Fullerton on April 6, allowing one unearned run on five hits in 6.1 innings with two strikeouts and two walks... Also threw 6.1 innings of one-run ball with two hits allowed, six strikeouts and three walks against Washington on Feb. 16... Followed up that game with another good outing against Utah on Feb. 23, this time allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits in seven innings with a season-high seven strikeouts... Did not earn a win in each of those three solid starts... Only win of the season came against UC Riverside on April 20, after allowing two runs (none earned) on four hits in five innings... UC Davis averaged 6.48 runs per game but scored nearly two runs fewer (4.57) in Koopmans' 14 appearances.
2012: Appeared in 16 games with 11 relief appearances and five starts as a true freshman...First outing was against Utah on Feb. 19 where he went one inning, striking out two... Made first collegiate start at then-No. 7 Arizona on March 7 and went five innings, sacrificing three runs and striking out two... Pitched a season-high 5.2 innings against Long Beach State and gave up three earned runs while striking out two... Struck out 24 batters in 39 innings and finished with a 5.31 ERA.
SANTA TERESA HS '11: All-Blossom Valley Athletic League performer in both baseball and basketball... Earned BVAL Freshman of the Year and Sophomore of the Year honors, compiling ERAs of 1.35 and 1.42 in those respective seasons... Posted 2.43 ERA in 2010... Two-time All-BVAL first-team honoree in basketball, averaging double-figure points for three straight years... Hoop team won Central Coast Section title in 2010-11... Three-year Scholar-Athlete in both sports... Chosen as school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior.
PERSONAL: Born in San Jose, Calif.... Majoring in exercise biology... Parents are Scott & Rhosie Koopmans... Has two sisters, Julianna (21) and Christina (13)... Career highlight was helping STHS win its first-ever CCS Division I basketball championship.
