TURLOCK, Calif. - Cal State Stanislaus scored five times in the bottom of the ninth to cap a come-from-behind, 12-9, victory over UC Davis in a California Collegiate Athletic Association baseball game Sunday at Warrior Field.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 4-4 on the season, 3-1 in conference play. Stanislaus avoids the four-game sweep and improves to 3-6 on the year, 1-3 in CCAA action.
Details on the Warriors comeback win were not available as of Sunday evening.
The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings before UC Davis scored three in the fourth and five more in the fifth to take an 8-4 lead.
Stanislaus added two more in the bottom of the sixth to make it 8-6. The score remained that way until the top of the ninth when the Aggies added a single run to make it 9-6 with the Warriors down to their last three outs. Stanislaus scored five runs in their half of the frame, the game-winner coming with two outs in the inning.
Andrew Reisinger led the way for the Aggie offense, connecting for two home runs and driving in a career-high six RBI on the day. Robby Tulk and Kyle Irving each added a pair of hits as the Aggies connected for 11 hits on the day, their sixth-straight multi-hit game.
Stanislaus was led by Josh Burnett and Hector Alaniz who combined to go 6-for-9 with 7 RBI, two home runs and four runs scored. Stanislaus pounded out 14 hits on the afternoon.
Paul Gonzales got the start for UC Davis and went 5.0 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on seven hits while striking out two. Joel Needham pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing five runs, all in the ninth, as he takes his second loss of the year against no wins.
UC Davis will next be in action this Friday when it hosts San Francisco State in a CCAA contest at Dobbins Stadium. Gametime is set for 2 p.m.
