SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Mitchell Bialosky's bases loaded triple highlighted a six-run fourth inning and propelled the University of San Francisco to an 11-2 victory over UC Davis in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 16-12 while the Dons improve to 21-9 overall.
After scoring singles runs in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead, the Dons broke the game open with the sixth-run fourth. With two outs and one run in, Stefan Gartrell lined a two-run double to right before Bialosky's triple put the game out of reach.
That was all the offense the Aggies could muster as they collected eight total hits, with LaTorre the only player with more than one. Freshman Daniel Descalso improved his team-best hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the sixth inning.
Paul Gonzales took the hill for UC Davis and suffered his first loss of the season after working three-plus innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Jeremy McChesney came on with no outs in the fourth and allowed five runs on two hits before getting out of the inning.
USF collected 12 hits on the afternoon with Gartrell, Bialosky and Tevo Hall each having two. Bialosky added three RBIs while Gartrell and Luke Sommer both drove in two runs.
T.J. Franco worked the first five innings for the Dons to see his season record at move to 2-2.
UC Davis begins a three-game series against UC Santa Barbara this Friday at Dobbins Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
